Missed Your NDIS Plan Review? Here’s What to Do Next (Without the Panic)
Missing your NDIS plan review can feel terrifying like everything might fall apart. But you’re not the only one, and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Life gets busy, and this happens to more people than you think. What matters now is what you do next.
1. You Missed Your Plan Review. Now What?
If you’ve missed your review date, you might feel a wave of guilt or panic. Questions like “Will I lose my funding?” or “Did I mess everything up?” are common. First, breathe. You are not alone. Many participants and carers miss their review date — not because they don’t care, but because they are juggling so much already. You’re human.
2. Why It’s Not Too Late (And What to Do Now)
The good news? Many NDIS plans are automatically extended. But you can also take proactive steps:
- Call the NDIA on 1800 800 110
- Ask if your plan has been auto-extended or request a “plan continuation”
- Book a new review meeting and bring any updated reports or goals with you
This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about reconnecting to the support that’s already available to you.
3. How to Prepare for a Catch-Up Meeting
If you’re preparing for a catch-up review, gather these things:
- Recent support letters or assessments
- Updated personal goals
- Notes on what has and hasn’t been working in your current plan
These documents help you advocate for what you need. If you’re unsure what to bring, a good Support Coordinator can help guide you through this.
4. When You’re Feeling Lost — Ask for a Support Coordinator
You don’t have to figure everything out alone. You can ask for a Support Coordinator to help manage the next steps. And yes — you’re allowed to choose someone who truly understands your needs and values. A good coordinator will walk beside you and make sure you’re not navigating the system in isolation.
5. You’re Not a Failure. You’re Human.
Missing a date doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’ve been busy caring, surviving, and doing your best. With the right guidance and a little help, you can get back on track — without shame or stress. We’re here if you need someone to talk it through with.
